FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – United Way of Broward County unveiled the new Jean & David Colker Center during a ceremony on its grounds in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, November 6th.  Ninety-one year old philanthropist Jean Colker donated $500,000 towards the renovation of the Center which will serve as a centralized location where veterans and military service members can go to receive case management services provided by MISSION UNITED.

Local Students Donate 150 Duffle Bags to Children in Foster Care

PLANTATION, Fla. – A caravan of cars came filled with 150 duffle bags, stuffed with toys, t-shirts, socks, blankets and toiletries, were delivered recently to ChildNet’s Safe Place.  ChildNet, the community-based care lead agency in Broward and Palm Beach counties, oversees Safe Place which is an emergency intake and placement facility.  When children are removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment or neglect, they are brought to Safe Place while an appropriate placement is identified.
