FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – United Way of Broward County unveiled the new Jean & David Colker Center during a ceremony on its grounds in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, November 6^th.  Ninety-one year old philanthropist Jean Colker donated $500,000 towards the renovation of the Center which will serve as a centralized location where veterans and military service members can go to receive case management services provided by MISSION UNITED.

Local Students Donate 150 Duffle Bags to Children in Foster Care

Armando Bringuier of ChildNet, and St. Gregory Catholic School student volunteers, delivering bags to ChildNet’s Safe Place.

PLANTATION, Fla. – A caravan of cars came filled with 150 duffle bags, stuffed with toys, t-shirts, socks, blankets and toiletries, were delivered recently to ChildNet’s Safe Place.  ChildNet, the community-based care lead agency in Broward and Palm Beach counties, oversees Safe Place which is an emergency intake and placement facility.  When children are removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment or neglect, they are brought to Safe Place while an appropriate placement is identified.

Kraft Foods Group is voluntarily recalling some varieties of Kraft and Polly-O String Cheese and String Cheese Twists products. These products may spoil before their "Best When Used By" code dates, leading to product discoloration. The affected products all have code dates from October 25, 2013 through February 11, 2014.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- The Symphony of the Americas opened the 2013-2014 season with a high voltage celebration of Hispanic and Italian Heritage Month on Tuesday, October 15 at the Broward Center's Amaturo Theater. With Argentine born Alejandro Drago as guest violinist-arranger-composer, the spirit of the tango permeated the concert's first half. A rousing version of the Star Spangled Banner commenced the evening.
